Fresh From The Farm

We joined Greene's Country Store's Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA) for the Inn this year.  Once a week we pick up a delicious harvest of locally grown, organic produce and products such as eggs, pastas, fruits, vegetables, breads, jams, etc.

Chef John Richardson will take what was in that week's share and creates wonderful menus based upon what is in season.

Our guests have been raving about John's menu items. They're excited to have creative breakfast cuisine, locally grown produce, and the opportunity to watch him create it in our open kitchen where he explains what he's making.

Wonder what he'll cook up next week??!!
Yum....

A Weekend for Weddings!

Wedding Guests & Honeymooners

This weekend was pretty exciting at the Inn.  We had a group in town for a friend's wedding.  All of the women had been on the Washington University's 2001 Lady Bears Basketball, Division 3 National Championship Team.  The wedding was that of their teammate, so they came in from out of town to be at the wedding.

The guests were picked up by Norm Keller with his Limo Service.  Norm owns The Parson's House, a bed & breakfast a few blocks away from us.

After the wedding guests checked out, we had our first Honeymooners!

This wonderful couple had chosen to stay with us on their wedding night.  We felt very honored to have them as our very first honeymoon guests!

It was a very eventful and a very fun weekend.

Our First International Guest Arrived

Our Guest from Across the Pond....

Ben arrived Friday night after biking the Katy Trail from it's beginning in Clinton.  Ben is from the UK (England) and decided to bike the trail, stopping in a few towns along the way.  He arrived Friday evening and said he had a wonderful trip across Missouri.  He was going to complete the trail from Defiance to St. Charles on Saturday, then meet his wife in D.C.  We were excited to have our first International Guest, and happy that Ben chose to stay with us!  What a lovely guest.  We hope he and his wife return to Missouri.

International Guests

So, we've just celebrated being open for four weeks. Imagine our surprise that we've received bookings from someone from England and from France!  We're thinking about getting a world map and having people put a push pin on it to show where they're from. Wouldn't that be fun?

Yum..... Morels.... Why can't you stay around longer??

You've gotta love Missouri Morel Mushrooms!

So Nick went out hunting for Morels.  We were lucky this year, finding them (WAIT!  We can't really give away our secret Morel location stash, can we??!! Ha!)

He came back with a nice find of them, so Chef John decided to create a special breakfast entrĂ©e with Missouri Morel Mushrooms and asparagus (among other items).  Talk about delicious!!!

What's on tap for breakfast?

Missouri Spring Breakfast

Chef John created a dish that was indescribably delicious, with hot, warm, and cold items along with soft, crunchy, and variety of texture and color.  It's a shame that Missouri Morel season doesn't last longer.  With today's 88 degree temperatures, I fear we have said goodbye to  our tasty friends until next year.

The movies are shown under the pavilion, the Piazza Deli cooks up personal pan pizzas, beer and wine can also be purchased, and picnic baskets are allowed.  Doors open at 6:30, the movie begins at dusk.

We have three rooms left if anyone is wanting to come out for a one-night stay this Friday night.  Chef John Richardson will be cooking up his usual masterpiece breakfast on Saturday morning :-)

Our Big Red Barn

Big Red Barn Project

Our Barn Project is in full swing, thanks to Nick Comotto. After months of clearing debris (both in and out of the barn), hauling trash and other unwanted items to recycling centers & dumps, giving away wood and odd items, clearing brush, and numerous other needs/tasks, the project is taking really great shape.

We have a bride who inquired about getting married at the barn this fall, so Nick is handling this aspect of the Inn for us (research, legal aspects, planning, county codes, remodeling, construction, and setup for the entire structure as a possible event/entertainment venue). We really don't know what we'd do without him handling this for us -- it's been such a relief for us to have him spearheading this project as we've been busy with other aspects of the business.  A shade garden is being planned and installed behind the barn as well, using the original stones which served as the foundation for the original barn.

Below are some of the photos
